When she was near to graduating her degree she entered into the film industry by the director Kabrase in Love Sonia Movie auditions. It took long time to start the movie the crew went to the lots of places to start the shoot but no use Mrunal got offers from the serial director couple Shakthi Anand and Sai devara , Mujshe Kuchh Khethi yehh Kamoshiyaan as Gauri Bhonsle in 2012 but she doesn’t like to act in serials her financial status made her to act in serials. For a Marathi Flim director Ganesh Kadam made auditions Mrunali was selected in that and gave Sandhya character . It made blockbuster hit and gained 10 crores . Later director Santhosh offered a marathi flim Surajya as Dr. Swapna it was released before she signed her first film , 2014 April . Star plus offered celebrities to dance in a reality show , Naach Baliye .Her final appearance on TV was with the Indonesian serial Nadin , where she was she as Tara, after which she took a retirement from television.
Her first hindi project Love Sonia shoot was started in 2018 , stayed at Kolkata. Movie is about a village who showed her bravery on people who are traffickking the women and making them as Prostitutes actually she spent the time in brothel to mould her as a prostitute for acting. Released on 2018 .
Thakur’s Bollywood debut came in 2019 with Vikas Bhal’s biographical movie Super30, narrating the story of mathematician Anand Kumar (played by Hrithik Roshan in the film) and his education programme of same name , in which she portrayed Kumar’s love interest, a classical dancer Supriya. In the same year, she played John Abraham’s wife Nandita Kumar in Nikkkil Adhvaani’s Batla house, based on the 2008 Batla house encounter case.
